Migraine & insomnia & pains & Maxalt & Weather storm

I am suffering with Migraine since august lats year everyday,i live in Ensenada, Mexico now, first just headache that tylenol or excedrin will cure but later in less than a month they did not work and became a big everyday migraine with insomnia, I had 4 days in the week that I woke up at 3 am and could not sleep until next day, it did not matter if i went early, on time or super late to the bed...and insomnia 3 days in a row .My doctor prescribed Magnesium 400 mg twice a day,vit D 50000 UI once per week, tizadine 5 mg per day and nortriptiline, which i quit because side effects, instead of that I was taking Anbiem and for migraine Maxalt, this was the perfect cure for a while but now they are not working for me, I have everyday migraine ,i hate the light so i hide in my dark room,i can not sleep deep like before and Iam having insomnia again, since the last month i am having terrible legs muscle pain ( from my hip to my knees) and since the last week jaw muscle pain (my teeth are ok ) and Maxalt does not work if i dont take 3 dosis per day (it isn't work as the first times). This migraine is not food related,I reduce coffee to 1 cup in the morning (I had drinking more coffee than that my whole life)I am very irritable, the light from this "summer neverending wheather" is killing me, I found out few days ago that when we was in the hotel for my son's surgery in Escondido, Calif. the air conditioner and heather will start my migraine ....But when we have the BIG RAIN STORM in San Diego and Ensenada my Migraine was gone it felt so good! for the fisrt time in months, also my husband remember that the same happened when we went to high altitud trip. Any ideas what is going on with me? Am i crazy?

Migraine & insomnia & pains & Maxalt & Weather storm

Hello Gabriela37 You probably suffer from migraines which are ONLY caused by the weather. I have the same problem as you : in general huge migraine before the storm and after it no migraine at all! It seems to have a link with positive ions in the air and/or sferics. In addition, the problems are increased by the presence of mountains especially if the bad weather comes from them (see the migraines caused by the Chinook in Alberta.) I live in France, and unfortunately have not found the appropriate treatment (all the common ones do not work for this problem and many specialists do not believe me about the origin of my migraines.) I have less problems near the sea side and living far from the mountains and at a place where the weather is stable (I went once 2 weeks in the desert. No migraines there!) So, if you can not move to a best appropriate place, do not forget that you have the chance to live in a country where many searchers work ->they will find the right medication one day. If you find it, please let me know... So good luck Regards agora26

Thanks for your reply agora26 Since yesterday we have a small storm and the temperature is around 62 F, my migraine is a little better than the sunny days that is common in this area, I have the strong feeling that is weather related, but unfortunaly I am part of the small % that suffer migraine with a summer all year around weather, just in case I am taking notes about my diet to see if there is anything that can cause it ,so far I am planning go away from this real summer (over 80 F and high hummidity ) that is comming to a high altitude and dry weather like Northen California or Reno Nevada to see if will make my migraine go away like the last time. So far the medicine are working on my sleep problem but the doctor already told me that i wont have refills for ambien so I scare to go back to insomnia again,My doctor prescribed me pills for high pressure, he believes that it will help with the veins that are causing my migraine also order brain ct scan, If the new treatment work i will talk about it. so far in 5 days treatment do not work, i will continue taking them maybe i need more days for the new medicine to build up in my system.Thank you for the article i will save it and read it to see if i can find anything that guide me to get rid of the migraine.

Migraine and weather

I had migraine most of my Life. Did not seem to matter where I lived. East coast USA, southern Ontario, then British Columbia Canada. At a young age it was motion sickness, smells, colours and storms. In Ontario it was summer storms. I would feel the storms build. Felt like the pressure was sitting on my head. When the rain started the pressure would lessen. No migaine while pregnant. Two children I would have liked 20 it was my only reprieve. In my 30's I was afraid to open my eyes in the morning for fear of migraine. I tried vascular constrictors, demerol gravol for the vomitting. There were foods that would trigger wine, chocolate nitrates MSG in foods. I would have dental pain, would have liked someone to rip out my spine. Could not sleep until the migraine left. If my Doctor asked if I was stressed one more time I would have been had up for murder! I would crawl to his office for an injection, but only if I could see. I got sick of promices that what ever new medication would be the answer. The only thing I found that helped was my own combination of 3 tylenol #1's and a gravol. Tylenol # 3's made me vomitt This allowed me to sleep. Gravol is a seditive of sorts. During my cycle I would have one good week out of the month. At 42 I had a hystorectomy and poof!!! No more migraines!! I find now I get the occasional migraine with weather changes but nothing like previously. Good luck finding your answer! Strange that this was mine when I had migraine all my life!
