What are the mechanisms through which the weather effects changes in our bodies?

The answer to this question is that we don't really know. However we have clues. We were contacted by a research worker in Australia. He is an orthodontist and a biochemist, which is, of itself, an interesting combination. He told us that he had been tracking levels of inflammatory proteins in volunteers as weather patterns moved across Melbourne and the surrounding areas.

He said he had figures which showed consistent variations in these protein levels with specific weather patterns.

He agreed that when we had enough funding we would pursue this further.

Funding... One of the aims of the Mediclim team is to raise enough funds from advertizing to support projects like this. For this we need to increase our membership and so, for the moment, that's what we're concentrating on.

If you can help in this regard, please do so.

Migraine & weather changes - funding??

I'm new to Mediclim and I appreciate the site's efforts, but so far it seems weak in terms of notification (the dates on the weather page, for example - what is going on? It's August 1st but the list does not have anything after July 25th as far as warnings. Seems like this would be updated daily.) I am in so much pain right now I can't believe I'm writing this AND once again I had to page my neuro on the weekend and once again I'm getting a Medrol dose-pack to deal with this. I am so d*** sick of this and it seem like John Bart can't raise people's hopes by starting a site like this and then not have it managed properly. It only makes the pain worse. I am sure you are very busy, but the last blog post from you is JUNE 12TH ?? WHAT IS UP WITH THAT??? So my question is, what do you think of having surgery to correct sinus issues - I have a deviated septum and my nasal passages are often clogged - since childhood - and I've had severe migraines since age 32 (I'm now 52). I had migraines as a child too but not like these. I don't know what else to do, and a friend of mine had the surgery & her migraines completely disappeared - I have tried everything else including a hysterectomy - I am on Lyrica, amitriptyline, and Imitrex (as needed, no more than 4/wk but I sometimes go over). I am really worried about the long-term effects of all these meds - I've been taking 4-5 meds at a time for over 20 years now - so far my blood tests don't show any damage but I feel sick a lot and the Imitrex wipes me out when I take it. Plus it is generic now and being made in Singapore....nothing against the ex-US manufacturers but, their controls and regs are looser than ours. An answer would be greatly appreciated, and I'm sorry that I cannot provide any funding.
